When choosing fertilizers for peppers, many summer residents prefer complex solutions. But can't fertilizer be made from ingredients that are at hand?

There are several options for fertilizing that every summer resident can do, said Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, an agronomist, and a landscape designer.

What kind of fertilizers does pepper need?

Peppers require a variety of nutrients to grow and develop properly.

Nitrogen promotes the growth of green mass, phosphorus supports the development of the root system and flowering, and potassium improves the general condition of plants and increases their resistance to diseases. Deficiency or excess of any of these elements can negatively affect the harvest.

The base is compost

Compost is one of the best sources of organic matter for feeding peppers. It enriches the soil with essential micro- and macroelements, improves its structure and water permeability.

To prepare compost, you can use kitchen waste (vegetable and fruit peelings, eggshells), garden waste (grass, leaves), as well as manure and rotted straw.

Method of compost preparation:

1) you need to mix all the waste and add a little soil;
2) put everything in a compost pit or composter;
3) mix the pit regularly. This will speed up the decomposition process. It is also necessary to constantly maintain a high level of humidity.

Compost can be prepared in 6-12 months, but the time frame may vary. It is difficult to imagine a more universal and effective fertilizer at the moment.

Nettle infusion

Nettle is an excellent source of nitrogen, which is essential for pepper growth. Nettle infusion can be easily prepared at home.

It is enough to collect it, cut it into small pieces, place it in a container and fill it with water in a ratio of 1 to 10. The infusion time is 2 weeks. Such a solution can be used for watering.

Wood ash

Wood ash is an affordable source of potassium and phosphorus, which also helps neutralize soil acidity. Ash from burning wood or plant debris is needed, avoiding ash from chemically treated materials.

To use, simply spread the ash around the plants or add it to the soil when planting. You can also prepare a solution: 1 glass of ash per 10 liters of water, leave for 2-3 days and water the plants.

Earlier we talked about why a bow goes to the arrow .
