Wood ash often comes to the rescue of owners of country houses.

After all, unburned wood residues are an excellent fertilizer, a wonderful remedy against pests, a good fungicide, and a good soil deoxidizer.

Some summer residents, knowing about the versatility of ash, begin to use this powder to feed and protect absolutely all plants.

But this approach is wrong. It turns out that there are many representatives of flora for which the above powder is contraindicated.

An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh listed crops that cannot be fertilized with unburned wood residues.

Which plants should not be fertilized with ash

Common mistakes include feeding the following plants with this product:

  • watermelons;
  • blueberry;
  • hydrangea;
  • radish;
  • sorrel.

Many gardeners will ask themselves: "Why is ash harmful to radishes? After all, many gardeners "dust" this crop with unburned wood residues!"

But there is a simple answer: “The plant prefers slightly acidic soil, but because of the ash the soil ceases to be so.”

However, if you add ash long before planting radishes, the plant will most likely not be harmed. At the same time, the potassium deficiency will be replenished.

Earlier, summer residents were told about the ideal fertilizer for peppers at the beginning of summer.
