The weevil can be called the most insidious enemy of the gardener and horticulturist. The insect does not disdain either berries or fruits. With enviable enthusiasm, the parasite is always ready to spoil the gardener's plans for the strawberry harvest.

But treating berry bushes with chemicals during flowering and ripening is, in the truest sense of the word, an unhealthy idea.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told how to treat strawberries from weevils.

One way or another, the harvest may be lost. Therefore, even folk remedies should not be disdained.

Yeast to the rescue

This culinary ingredient is increasingly being used by summer residents for other purposes.

Yeast is used to prepare fertilizers, but experienced gardeners also use yeast against pests.

Yeast vs Weevil

To prepare a working solution, you need to dissolve one glass of sugar and 100 grams of yeast in a liter of water.

Leave the container in a warm place, let it brew and ferment.

When the reaction is complete, pour into bottles or jars. Then the necks must be treated with vegetable oil from the inside.

As you can see, the yeast infusion acts as bait for the insect, and the oiled neck of the jar acts as a trap.

If the method seems questionable, then plant marigolds closer to the strawberry bed, the smell of which will scare away all the weevils.

Earlier we talked about why garlic leaves turn yellow .
