When using wood ash as a fertilizer, it is important to remember that this type of fertilizer is not suitable for all crops.
An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told us which plants are not recommended to be fed with ash.
What crops are not fed with ash
Firstly, it is strictly forbidden to use ash to feed fragile seedlings.
Secondly, you cannot feed ash to crops that prefer acidic soil (ash alkalizes the soil).
These plants include watermelons, blueberries, sorrel, radishes, azaleas, roses, zinnias, and hydrangeas.
Coniferous plants also do not like ash: thuja, juniper, larch, spruce, fir.
