If you do not take any measures to combat the Colorado potato beetle, you can forget about a good harvest.
But in order to win this battle, it is worth knowing which methods should not be relied upon, since they are useless – they were listed by the expert of the online publication “BelNovosti”, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .
Onion peel, fish or pine needles
Sometimes summer residents put the listed "products" in the hole when planting potatoes in order to get rid of the Colorado potato beetle. Ask yourself - what is the point if the listed "additives" are in the ground, and the beetles and larvae are on top.
Spraying
Another common folk method of fighting the Colorado potato beetle – spraying with wormwood, mustard, vinegar and celandine – does not work.
Domestos
This method, although somewhat "exotic", is quite effective - beetles die from it like flies. But the potato tops also live very shortly as a result.
Companion plantings
Have you ever heard recommendations to plant marigolds, wormwood, mustard or matthiola next to potato beds? Forget it – they do not have the “gift” of protection against the Colorado potato beetle.
Biopreparations
Here the opinions of gardeners are divided, but one thing is certain: the effectiveness of such means in the fight against pests depends on many factors.
