Spring at the dacha is a time of painstaking work, like any other time of the year. But it is now that it is important to put the land plot in order.
Only after this can you begin to treat the soil and plants from diseases and pests, and then to fertilize.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, an agronomist and landscape designer, told how many times in the spring you need to feed strawberries and how to do it.
Strawberry. Fertilizer. Harvest
Considering that strawberries grow in one place for 3-4 years, without proper soil care they will not produce a normal harvest.
Again, without fertilizing, the plants will weaken, diseases, pests and expenses for purchasing new seedlings will appear.
To prevent this from happening, the berry bush is fed in two stages in the spring.
When to feed
1. In the early stages after wintering, strawberries, like all other perennial crops, require nitrogen.
Summer residents are offered a choice of ammonium nitrate or urea (1 tbsp. per 10 liters of water).
This solution should be enough to feed 10 to 20 bushes.
The additive can be added in dry form at the rate of 1 tbsp per square meter of soil.
Supporters of organic fertilizers can add an infusion of chicken manure or mullein (1 kg of substance per 10 l of water and after 4 days dilute the concentrate with clean water in a ratio of 1:5). Use for watering under the root.
2. The next time the berry bush is fertilized is when buds begin to appear.
You need to use potassium fertilizers (1 teaspoon per 10 liters of water). The solution should be enough to water 10-20 bushes.
Ash is a natural fertilizer that can be sprinkled under the bush or used to make an infusion for spraying (1 kg per 10 l of water and leave for two days). They say it protects against pests.
