Before planting eggplants, many summer residents ask themselves the question: “Where should I grow the crop - in open ground or in a greenhouse?”
If we take into account the plant’s love of heat, then the answer would seem obvious: “In a heated greenhouse.”
But it's not that simple. There are other important factors. And there are compromises.
Important information related to growing eggplants was shared by the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .
Where to Grow Eggplants
Yes, the garden crop is heat-loving. But at the same time, it does not “react” well to extreme heat.
If eggplants grow in conditions where the thermometer rises above +32 degrees, then problems with fruit formation may arise.
Therefore, gardeners living in the south of the European part of the Russian Federation are better off planting eggplants in open ground.
But for residents of Belarus and central Russia, it is advisable to plant some of the eggplants in a greenhouse and some in the open air.
But there is an alternative option - planting on a high bed. In this case, you need to use a protective material - spunbond. In this case, the plant will not "freeze" and will not encounter too high temperatures.
Earlier, summer residents were told what to do with currants in early spring.
