Of the nightshade family, or more precisely tomatoes, eggplants and peppers, the sweet bell pepper is considered the most capricious.
The seeds don’t germinate very well, the seedlings need special conditions for growth, and it’s also better not to experiment with fertilizers.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", a scientist agronomist and landscape designer, told how to feed pepper seedlings.
When to feed
The most important thing after the seedlings appear is the first feeding of the peppers.
The main thing here is to wait until the first true leaf appears on the plant. This means that it is entering the active growth phase, which is impossible without fertilizing.
What to feed
1. Organic fertilizers have been tested for a long time and have proven themselves to be a reliable remedy.
A solution of mullein (bird droppings) is used in a ratio of 1:10 (1:20 respectively).
They will provide the soil with nitrogen, but if the concentration is not maintained, the plants can be burned.
2. Mineral fertilizers. The easiest way to grow seedlings. Additives containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium are used.
No less effective and more convenient than organic supplements. Easier to follow the dosage, easier to use and store.
3. Folk remedies. Onion peel or wood ash infusion can be considered as proven. It is important to remember that these additives are not able to provide the plant with nutrients in full. And calculating the dosage is even more difficult than with organic matter.
After fertilizing, continue to monitor the plant.
If the stem and leaves remain green, then the fertilizer has been beneficial.
