This procedure helps speed up the process of crop germination. It will not be superfluous in the case when the seeds have a dense shell.

Typically these are peppers, eggplants, zucchini, cucumbers or melons and pumpkins, as well as perennial flowers.

In addition, it is worth soaking seeds with a high content of essential oils: parsley, dill, etc.

This procedure is also carried out for disease prevention.

But it is important to read the instructions on the package carefully. However, some manufacturers help to do without such manipulation. It is also not worth soaking too small seed material.

What to soak seeds in

The simplest option is water.

The liquid should be at room temperature, but it should be renewed every 5 hours.

Legumes need to be soaked for 10-12 hours, cabbage, cucumbers or pumpkin – 12-15 hours, and some perennial flowers will have to be left in water for a day.

You can use growth stimulants. It is important to follow the instructions on the package, as the soaking time is significantly reduced.

The use of boric acid, hydrogen peroxide and Fitosporin is relevant. But all these components should be properly diluted with water so as not to spoil the seeds.

Previously, we talked about which seeds should not be soaked before planting.
