Fresh flowers can last quite a long time in a vase if you take certain steps and add a few things to the water.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist and landscape designer, tells how to extend the life of a bouquet using an inexpensive product that is available in every home.
How to preserve a bouquet
First, before placing the bouquet in a vase, you need to remove the packaging.
Secondly, it is extremely important to make a fresh cut. For spring flowers (tulips, daffodils), the stem is cut at an angle of 90 degrees.
If the stem is woody, like lilac or hydrangea, make a slanting cut at an angle of 45 degrees. In this case, you can also split the stem.
Thirdly, you can significantly extend the life of a bouquet with the help of baking soda. It is enough to add just one teaspoon to the water.
