Soon gardeners will be feeding winter garlic. This is a mandatory procedure, without which you can't expect a harvest.
But if you approach spring fertilizing wisely, you can grow garlic whose heads will be the size of a fist.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told what needs to be added to the water when fertilizing garlic.
Nitrogen fertilizers
The best thing you can do during this period is to add a portion of nitrogen to the soil.
To prepare the top dressing, take 20 g of fertilizer per 10 liters of water (30 g of nitroammophoska is required). Consumption is 3 liters per 1 square meter.
You can also use ammonium nitrate (30 g per 10 liters of water).
Another option is ammonia. In addition to nutrients, the additive will protect seedlings from pests and diseases, and will also help if the garlic starts to turn yellow.
To prepare the mixture, you will need 3 tablespoons of ammonia per 10 liters of water. But the solution must not come into contact with the seedlings.
Potassium fertilizers
In addition to nitrogen, the following additives are also needed, because without them, garlic heads will not develop.
Fertilizers containing potassium are used and are sold in any gardening store.
