Despite all the efforts made by gardeners, cucumber seedlings do not always survive.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh named three main mistakes that can lead to an unsatisfactory result.
Lack of light
For normal growth and development, cucumber seedlings need bright light.
Make sure it is grown in a well-lit area or use additional light sources.
Overwatering
Excess moisture in the soil can lead to root rot and other problems with seedling growth. Monitor watering and ensure good drainage in pots.
Another useful tip regarding watering cucumber seedlings is to focus on the soil condition when moistening it – a soil crust should not form on the surface of the soil. However, stagnant moisture is also contraindicated.
Nutrient deficiencies
Cucumber seedlings require a certain balance of nutrients in the soil. Use special fertilizers, such as calcium nitrate, to provide the seedlings with the necessary elements.
