Succulents are a large group of indoor plants that are not particularly difficult to care for.
In addition to Kalanchoe and cacti, this group of plants also includes various types of aloe, money tree, haworthia, sedum and others, said Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, an agronomist and landscape designer.
The specialist shared with us recommendations that will be useful for growing healthy plants with an excellent decorative appearance.
1. If it is not possible to grow succulents on a bright windowsill, it is better to choose plants with dark green leaves. They tolerate a lack of light better than brightly colored cacti of yellow, orange or red colors.
If you are not going to give up on colorful plants, do not forget that in winter they require additional lighting for 14 hours to maintain their shape and color.
2. Most succulents have a developed root system, so they need spacious pots.
3. Avoid overwatering the plants, as excess water can cause root rot and lead to the death of the succulent.
4. When creating compositions from different succulents, select plants with similar growth and development rates so that they do not compete for resources and light.
5. It is better to place ampelous succulents in hanging pots with loose, light soil and drainage holes.
