The new summer cottage season is just around the corner, which means that owners of country plots are already starting to slowly stock up on seeds.

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh advises, in addition to the seeds of the usual cucumbers and tomatoes, to buy three more bags - with flower planting material.

As practice shows, the plants that will be discussed are very useful for the garden.

Chamomile

This medicinal plant, known to many, comes to the rescue when you have a sore throat and also serves as an excellent assistant in protecting plants from various diseases and pests.

It has been observed that crops growing near chamomile are less susceptible to disease and pest attacks.

Calendula

Like chamomile, calendula not only has medicinal properties for the human body, but also helps to improve the health of the soil.

It can be used as a green manure or mulching material, or it can simply be grown next to garden crops - the phytoncidal substances secreted by the flower protect plants from many diseases.

Nasturtium

Finally, the beloved nasturtium will readily improve the health of the soil and plantings and drive away a whole bunch of insect pests, including nematodes, cabbage moths and flea beetles.

For this reason, it makes sense to scatter nasturtium seeds in a bed with cabbage, as well as between the bushes of garden strawberries.

Earlier, the expert told how to treat a flower bed from pests when the snow melts.
