Petunias are an excellent choice for a summer cottage, as they are not demanding in terms of growing conditions, tolerate drought and various weather conditions well, and do not require complex care.

The expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh shared tips on growing this flower - you can use some of them now, in January-February, to get an impressive result in the form of lush flowering in the summer.

For example, in the winter months, you can decide on a site for growing these flowers. The plant prefers well-lit places, but can also exist in partial shade.

If you plan to grow petunia in a pot, over the winter, look for containers with good drainage and large enough to allow the plant's roots to grow freely.

Before planting petunias, be sure to prepare the soil. It should be well-drained and fertile. If the soil on your site does not meet these parameters, add compost or manure to improve the structure and increase its fertility.

Petunia seedlings should be transplanted to a permanent location after the threat of frost has passed. Depending on the region, this usually happens in late May or early June.

Petunia requires regular but moderate watering. Make sure the soil is moist, but avoid overwatering.

For lush flowering of petunias, regularly feed the plant with complex fertilizers - feeding should be done every 2 weeks.

Faded petunia flowers should be removed to encourage new flowers to appear.

Earlier, the expert told what kind of water can be used for watering seedlings.
