For those who don’t know yet: moniliosis, which is also called monilial burn, is a disease of fungal origin and can affect various fruit trees.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh shared the symptoms of this dangerous disease with us.
So, a summer resident should be alerted by yellowing and falling leaves, starting from the top of the tree.
Moreover, the leaves often have a burnt appearance – this can also be attributed to signs of moniliosis.
In addition, you should not stand aside if you notice that new shoots and branches have begun to dry out.
If grey-white fluffy formations appear on the tree bark, this indicates that you are dealing with fungal sporulation.
Finally, do not ignore such a signal as rotting fruits, which, among other things, may be covered with a white coating.
Prevention of moniliosis includes the following “activities”: choosing varieties resistant to the disease, regular pruning of trees, using fungicides, and collecting and destroying fallen leaves and fruits.
