Thanks to its unusually attractive appearance, the violet has taken one of the main places in the hearts of flower growers - from beginners to professionals.
Despite the fact that the flower is undemanding in care, the plant is still susceptible to a number of diseases. Today, the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told why violet leaves can rot and what measures should be taken.
The first reason, which is connected with the beginning of the heating season, is temperature changes, because a flower pot, as a rule, stands on a windowsill, under which a radiator is placed, and at the same time there is a merciless draft from the window.
In addition, overwatering, especially during the cold period, as well as a lack of fertilizers can lead to this condition of the flower.
Finally, rotting can be caused by fungi found in the soil.
In any case, as soon as you notice signs of leaf rot on your violet, you must immediately isolate it from other plants.
We take the flower out of the pot and examine the roots to identify blackened areas. These parts should be removed. In addition, we carefully trim off the rotting leaves.
Then we transplant the violet into fresh soil and treat the plant with any available antifungal drug.
For additional disinfection of the soil, you can add crushed activated carbon to it. Now your plant is safe!
