Not all summer residents live on their plots during the winter, but they sometimes come to check the condition of the garden, vegetable garden and flower garden.
It is believed that perennial plants are able to survive the winter on their own.
But this assumption is correct only under the condition of relatively smooth and stable weather.
Let's turn to the recommendations of the expert of the online publication "Belnovosti" and agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh.
How to Properly Check Perennials in Winter
In frosty weather, you need to make sure that the covers for perennial flowers have not been blown away by the wind and that the plants are still covered - if necessary, adjust the structure and replace the material.
If you covered the flowers with spruce branches, you don't need to dig them up. But it's better to check the flowers under frame structures, as they can break under the pressure of snow.
During a thaw, carefully lift the covering material and air the flowers for a couple of hours.
