What to do for a summer resident in January: spend time with maximum benefit

In winter, namely in the first month of the new year, summer residents should start preparing for the upcoming spring-summer season by completing a number of tasks.

According to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , one of the first things to do should be to take inventory of seeds - perhaps you have a lot of expired or unused seeds.

However, you shouldn't throw away bags of seeds right away: for example, cucumber, squash and pumpkin seeds usually last longer than the manufacturer states, and still produce a good harvest. The same can be said about pepper seeds, while delphinium and primrose planting material loses its germination capacity quite quickly.

It is also important to plan what you want to plant next season, check if you have enough seeds and buy more if necessary.

If you already know exactly what will be grown in your garden in the new year, you can make a list of the necessary fertilizers and calculate the amount that needs to be applied for certain crops.

In addition, you can include in the list of tasks the analysis of the garden first aid kit and, if necessary, the purchase of the necessary means that are needed for the prevention and treatment of diseases and pests.

Finally, you can install bird feeders in your yard.

This "event" can be called a kind of preventive measure against pests. Birds accustomed to flying to the site for food will actively destroy various beetles and caterpillars in the summer.

Earlier we told you how to water an orchid so that it produces several flower stalks at once.
