It turns out that a live New Year tree can be useful to its owner even after the holidays.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh advises carefully removing the needles from the tree once you have thoroughly enjoyed its aroma and appearance.
Caution: To avoid injury, be sure to wear gloves.
Once the needles are collected, add them to your houseplant pots.
This way you will help flowers whose pot soil has become too dry and hard – such coniferous mulch will help keep the soil moist for a longer period and provide oxygen access to the roots.
In addition, pine needles can be useful for plants that prefer acidic soil. They can be simply scattered in pots around such plants.
This is far from the only way to use pine needles.
You can also shred and fill cloth bags with needles and place them in your closet to get rid of moths, or shred them with scissors and place them in all corners of your apartment in the same bags to fill your home with a pleasant aroma.
