The optimal way to grow most vegetables in the middle zone is, as is known, seedlings.
But you shouldn’t count on getting high-quality seedlings without using additional lighting, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert at the online publication BelNovosti, an agronomist and landscape designer.
The best option would be to buy a phytolamp, and not a simple one, but an LED one.
Compared to sodium and fluorescent lamps, this option has several advantages.
Among the advantages of the LED phytolamp, I would like to mention its qualities such as long service life, energy savings, compactness and luminous flux with a spectrum frequency that is useful for plants.
When purchasing a product, make sure that the radiation range refers to violet with a wavelength of 440-450 nm and red with a wavelength of 650-660 nm.
Another important characteristic is power. For seedlings on a windowsill, 45 W per square meter is suitable, for seedlings placed far from the window - at least 90 W per "square".
Finally, ask the seller about the area of the aluminum housing in relation to the number of diodes - it should be such that the lamp will not overheat.
