Not everyone knows that thuja can be not only a decoration, but also a source of problems for health and well-being. In this article, you will learn about the main reasons why you should not plant thuja in your yard and what consequences this can have.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, explained why you shouldn't plant thuja in your yard.

Thuja causes allergies

One of the most common reasons why it is not advisable to plant thuja in your yard is allergies. Thuja contains terpenes, which are strong allergens.

Terpenes cause irritation of the mucous membranes, itching, coughing, runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing and even asthma attacks.

Allergy to thuja can occur all year round, but is especially severe during the plant’s flowering period, which occurs in April-May.

Thuja attracts pests

Another argument against planting thuja in your own yard is the possible pests of this plant.

Thuja is attractive to many insects, rodents and birds, which can damage the plant and cause inconvenience to the owners. Among the most dangerous pests of thuja are:

• the pine needle moth, which feeds on pine needles and leaves white spots and holes on them;

• thuja false scale insect, which sucks the sap from the plant and causes it to wither and die;

• mice and moles that gnaw the roots and trunk of the thuja;

• magpies and thrushes, which peck at the berries of the thuja and spread the seeds, contributing to its invasive growth.

Thuja disrupts energy

The third reason why you shouldn't plant a thuja in your yard is energy. Thuja is considered a plant that absorbs energy rather than giving it off. Therefore, thuja can create an atmosphere of heaviness, despondency, and depression in the house. Thuja can also attract negative forces and damage. To avoid such influence, you shouldn't plant thuja near the entrance to the house, windows, or bedroom.

Thuja is a plant that can be not only beautiful but also dangerous. So before planting a thuja in your yard, think about the possible consequences for your health and well-being.
