After harvesting and preserving the greenhouse, the summer resident has time to rest a little.

But it is not time to relax yet, as there are some things that require the gardener’s attention.

There are two categories of pests that may remain in the garden to overwinter; it is better to remove them from their permanent place of residence.

Let's see what the expert of the online publication "Belnovosti" and agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh recommends.

What two types of pests overwinter in the vegetable garden and flower garden

These are the pests.

  1. Rodents. They usually burrow into hay and straw that was used for mulching or covering the garden. For protection, you can tie the bushes at the base of the trunk with protective materials. You can also throw snow on the flowerbed and beds.
  2. Slugs. They lay eggs in damp and cool places - in mulch, compost and leaf litter. Therefore, it is better to get rid of old organic mulch and collect unnecessary plant remains.
