Many summer residents perceive winter as a reason to relax and take a break from gardening and vegetable gardening, but you shouldn’t allow yourself to be lazy – now you can, for example, start preparing the soil for future seedlings.
And the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh will help you with this, telling you what “experienced” farmers use to keep plants strong.
First, let us recall the requirements for soil for seedlings.
Firstly, it should be light, loose and have good air permeability, secondly, the soil should be nutritious, and thirdly, you need to try to ensure that the soil does not “float” after watering: it should hold water well, without turning into mud.
To prepare soil for seedlings, you can use either purchased soil or soil taken from your own garden.
Be sure to add sand to it, and not just any sand, but the kind intended for chinchillas - it loosens the soil very well. For 5 liters of soil, you need 1 glass of sand.
Next in line is coconut substrate, which will help the soil not to turn into "mush" after watering. In addition, such a substrate contains a large number of useful substances. For the same volume of soil, take 200 g of dry substrate.
Be sure to include Azofoska in the soil for seedlings, which contains potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen, which are necessary for any plant. For 5 liters - 2 teaspoons.
The only thing left to do is add 2 heaping tablespoons of garden diatomite, which is needed to nourish plants, loosen the soil, and protect against pests and diseases.
