Anyone, even a novice gardener, knows that plantings need to be protected from onion and carrot flies.
If you sit back and do nothing, you will soon notice how the tops of the plants grown in your garden turn yellow and the plants themselves wither, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, an agronomist and landscape designer.
We will share with you an unusual, but very effective way to combat this annoying pest, which involves using tomato tops.
The secret is that tomato leaves contain a substance called solanine, which is poisonous to most harmful insects.
By the way, the product prepared according to this recipe will not only help you in the fight against the parasite, but will also serve as an excellent fertilizer.
To do this, you need to pick off the lower leaves of the tomatoes and fill a 10-liter bucket halfway with them.
Lightly press the main “ingredient”, then pour water over the tops (well water, if possible), and then leave to infuse for 2-3 days.
Before use, the infusion must be filtered and diluted with 10 liters of clean water, after which you can water the beds from a watering can directly on the tops. The treatment is carried out every 10 days.
