If you don’t treat currants against bud mites in time, you can lose your harvest.
How to get rid of this pest, says the expert of the online publication Belnovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .
How to protect currants from spider mites
First, in early spring, it is necessary to remove all buds affected by the mite. They look like balls with a diameter of 0.5-1 cm.
If there are more than 3-5 round buds on a branch, it makes sense to completely cut off the shoot.
If all branches are affected by the mite, the bush is cut down. During the season, it will grow new shoots.
After removing round buds and pruning damaged branches, treatment with special preparations is carried out.
Before budding, use preparations based on mineral oil, on the green cone - systemic or contact insectoacaricides, during the budding period - contact action biopreparations.
