There are many ways to determine this. Some buy litmus papers for the most accurate results. Others evaluate the reaction of vinegar and draw conclusions. Still others can determine the acidity level of the soil by the weeds that appear in the garden.
If you have acidic soil, it is not always worth immediately carrying out procedures to neutralize this moment, advises the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh. Some crops can feel quite comfortable even in such conditions.
What plants can grow in acidic soil
Berries
First of all, it is worth remembering blueberries, which grow only if the soil is "acidic". For this reason, connoisseurs of the culture, on the contrary, are looking for ways to acidify neutral soil.
Cranberries and lingonberries grow well in acidic soil. There are also no contraindications for planting blackberries and currants.
Flowers
Some flowers can also develop with slightly acidic soil. Peonies are worth mentioning. It is believed that such soil is the most comfortable for them.
If the acidity levels are weak, you can safely plant roses.
If you like hydrangeas, they can also grow in acidic soil.
Garden crops
Vegetables are more "picky" about acidity levels, but you can collect a decent pumpkin harvest if you follow the care rules.
You can also grow carrots at low acidity levels.
