As you know, onions cannot be planted in the same bed two years in a row.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist and landscape designer, tells us which crops will grow well in a bed of onions.
What plants are planted after onions
Nightshades, especially tomatoes and eggplants, cruciferous vegetables (cabbage, turnips, radishes) and cucurbits (pumpkins, squash, cucumbers) grow well after onions.
In addition, it is recommended to plant strawberries, beets and carrots in the onion bed.
Carrots, by the way, are an ideal predecessor for onions. These crops also get along well in the same bed.
It is not recommended to plant onion crops after onions, including flowers (daffodils, tulips), garlic, physalis, and spicy greens.
