It only seems that there are still a few months until the start of the new summer cottage season. In fact, before you even have time to blink, you will have to fiddle with seeds, seedlings and beds again.

Therefore, the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh suggests talking about the substrate for seedlings in order to stock up on theoretical knowledge in advance and in the future to apply it in practice without problems.

So, in this case, summer residents have two options - to prepare the soil mixture themselves, which is suitable for experienced gardeners, or to buy a ready-made substrate in a specialized store.

There are bags of different volumes available here – from 5 to 50 liters. You will have to decide for yourself how much soil you need.

Advice: buy already disinfected soil, “enriched” with organic and mineral substances. This option is completely ready for use.

If you are confident that you can cope with the task without outside help, try preparing the soil mixture according to the recipe below.

For this you will need peat, humus and coarse river sand - one part each, as well as turf soil - two parts.

Mix all the ingredients, adding one tablespoon of ash per liter of substrate (ash can be either wood or grass).
