Unfortunately, it is not always possible to calculate the amount of fertilizer required to feed plants.
Therefore, a large amount of unused fertilizers accumulates in the barn over the summer, which may still be useful in the next season.
It is important to remember the expiration date of the mixtures – it is printed on the packaging.
Let's see what the expert of the online publication "Belnovosti" and agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh thinks about storage.
How to store each group of fertilizers
Here are some recommendations.
- Mineral fertilizers. Powder and granulated versions should be limited from contact with humid air. Liquid mineral fertilizer should not be stored at temperatures below 0 degrees.
- Biofertilizers. Just keep them closed at a temperature of 5 to 10 degrees.
- Ash: Use a sealed container and place it in a dry place.
- Manure. It is stored outside - it can be covered for the winter.
