Pomegranate is a heat-loving plant, which makes it difficult to grow in open ground in the middle zone.
However, you can try to grow a pomegranate on your windowsill at home, says the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , who shared with us the secrets of this process.
First, go to the store and choose a ripe, large, juicy fruit. When you get home, remove the seeds and dry them.
In addition to planting material, you will also need a pot filled with light, nutrient-rich soil.
Please note: the container in which you plan to germinate the seeds should not be more than 10 cm high. Another mandatory condition is drainage holes at the bottom, as well as expanded clay or foam placed on the bottom.
Now it's time to put the pomegranate seeds into the ground. This should be done to a depth of 1.5 cm, after which it is necessary to water and cover the container with film.
In this form, the pot with the future pomegranate should be taken to the sunniest place in the house.
All that remains is to wait: depending on what time of year it is outside, the seeds will need from two weeks to several months to germinate.
