An irrigation system such as drip irrigation can be used as an excellent alternative to traditional methods that involve using a watering can, hose or sprayer.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist and landscape designer, told us how to independently organize drip irrigation.
To do this, first of all, you will need a capacious plastic barrel, into which you need to make a cut-in using a fitting for cutting in the required diameter.
The next necessary element is a watering filter. It is needed to avoid blockages in the drip tape, which will allow it to serve you faithfully for many years.
After the filter, it is necessary to install the timer, connecting the controller to the filter using an adapter. However, this step can be skipped - provided that you turn the watering on and off yourself.
Once this step is completed, install the valve that is needed to force the watering to stop.
There is not much left: connect the most ordinary reinforced garden hose or blind drip tube to the tap.
We need a hose to distribute water throughout the garden. To branch the garden hose, you will need tees and elbows, and the end of the hose is closed with a plug.
In order to make the transition from a garden hose to a drip tape, you need to purchase special fittings: a reducing tee for a garden tube and an elbow.
The layout is also done using tees and corners. Just in case, let us remind you: drip tape is laid with the water outlets facing upwards.
