Ash is classified as an organic fertilizer – it provides the soil with mineral substances for several years.
Therefore, you don’t have to sprinkle it on the soil every time after cleaning the firebox.
It is better to do this correctly and on time, for example, during the process of planting or replanting plants or when preparing the soil for beds.
Let's pay attention to the advice of the expert of the online publication "Belnovosti" and agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh.
What is the best way to store ash?
Here are three options.
- A special box. It should be kept in a dry, closed room where moisture does not get in.
- Iron barrel. It should be equipped with a hermetic lid. It can be placed under a canopy if it reliably protects the container from rain and snow.
- Regular iron buckets. They will do, provided that the containers are tightly closed with a lid.
- As for plastic bags, they should not be sealed tightly, as condensation may accumulate inside.
