For those new to the gardening “art”, it will probably be surprising to learn that there are a great many ways to plant potatoes.
One of them – under the straw – was shared with us by the expert of the online publication “BelNovosti”, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .
By the way, we should thank the agronomist Rytov for creating this method, who came up with it and was the first to test it.
Why does this method of planting potatoes require gratitude to its creator? The answer is simple - it is simple and understandable, while providing high yields.
But, as they say, let's get down to business: now we will tell you about the very essence of the technology being described.
So, to grow potatoes under straw, you will have to dig holes up to 20 cm deep, place the tubers in them, and carefully cover them with straw and earth.
Please note: to speed up the growth of potato tubers, use wet straw. Some gardeners successfully replace this material with mown grass.
Growing potatoes under straw is worth using when you have "heavy" soils at your disposal. This way you will get a good harvest that will be easy to harvest, and also eliminate the need to dig up the soil and minimize the risk of weeds appearing in the beds.
