Garden trees are often covered with moss and lichen, which leads to slow growth and reduced fruiting.
Over time, the branches of such trees die off and dry out – they need pruning.
Moss and lichen create a favorable environment for the development of insect pests.
Let's see what methods of disposal are recommended by the expert of the online publication "Belnovosti" and agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh.
How to get rid of moss and lichen
Here are 3 ways.
- Iron sulfate solution 5%. Dilute 500 grams per 10 liters of water and treat the trunk and skeletal branches of trees. Lichen and moss should fall off by themselves in a week.
- Thinning pruning. This method is suitable if the garden is very neglected. It is necessary to cut off overgrown branches, which will provide additional air and light.
- Salt, ash and soap. If there is not too much lichen and moss, then mix 1 kg of salt, 2 kg of wood ash and two bars of laundry soap in 10 liters of water. Boil, cool and coat the tree trunk.
