- For young seedlings, it is very important to cover not only the trunk, but also the crown.
- Before you start covering, check how stable the seedling is so that strong gusts of wind do not break the trunk - you may need to build a frame.
- Wrap the trunk and crown loosely – tie it with wire in some places. Deepen the lower part of the covering material into the ground, which will protect the seedling from mice.
- You shouldn’t cover the trunk with just fabric or paper – you need to create an additional layer, for example, from roofing felt or rose hips.
