Any summer resident would like the beets on his plot to grow large and juicy.
However, this does not always happen, and the reason, according to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , should be sought not in luck, but in other reasons.
For example, acidic and poor soil could have contributed to the root crops being small and tasteless.
Therefore, before you sow seeds in the ground next season, deoxidize the soil and add fertilizer – the latter step will help you increase the fertility of the beds.
In addition, when planting, it is necessary to take into account the variety and ripening time of vegetables - if you are late with sowing, the fruits simply will not have time to grow.
Watering is also important for the future harvest. Beets need regular soil moistening both after sowing and during the growth of root crops.
If you do not ensure sufficient soil moisture, the seeds will take a long time to germinate and the fruits will grow poorly.
Finally, do not forget to carry out a procedure such as thinning, and it should be carried out not once, but twice, leaving a distance of approximately 15-20 cm between the root crops.
