Who doesn’t encroach on the potato crop that we lovingly grow – these include voracious insects, animal pests, and numerous diseases.

The latter is what the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh proposes to talk about today.

You have probably encountered one of these diseases personally – when you noticed that the leaves on your potato bushes began to turn brown and rot.

This “behavior” is typical of fungus, the appearance of which is facilitated by several reasons.

1. Weather conditions. Cold May and rainy June are the best “atmosphere” for the development of fungal diseases.

2. You yourself contribute to the development of late blight if you do not observe moderation in watering.

3. In addition, thinning out plantings should not be ignored, since their density also promotes the growth of mushrooms.

4. Finally, the spread of fungal diseases is influenced by the use of infected planting material.

Therefore, if you find tubers with brown spots on their surface, give up the idea of growing a quality potato crop from them.

You can increase the likelihood that your vegetables will grow healthy by treating the area with copper oxychloride (in solution) or a preparation known to many gardeners called "Oxychom".
