It turns out that even a novice gardener can handle the task of growing a mango tree from a seed.

At the same time, you should be prepared for the fact that even if you wait for the plant to bloom, it will not bear fruit, reminds the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh . She shared with us step-by-step instructions for growing mango at home.

First, you need to get the very same bone, removing the pulp and rinsing it under water. If the shell has already cracked, you will only have to open it completely, if not, put the bone in a glass of water for 2 days, waiting for the hard skin to open.

The process of opening the pit is somewhat similar to cutting open an oyster. Your goal is to get the undamaged kernel and peel off the brown film.

Prepare a solution of potassium permanganate in advance to dip the seed in for 10 minutes. Then rinse it under clean water and, wrapping it in a damp cloth, put it in a polyethylene bag, which should be placed in a warm and light place.

Don't forget to air the grain every day and change the damp cloth and the bag it is stored in every 3 days.

After, as a rule, 7 to 20 days, a root appears from the pointed side of the stone.

When this happens, you will need a deep pot with a diameter of 10 cm and drainage holes. At its bottom, you should pour drainage, filling a quarter of the container with it, and then a mixture consisting of 2 parts peat and 1 part sand.

The seed is to be planted in this mixture, deepening it three-quarters and positioning it so that the sharp end faces downwards.

Don't forget to water it, then put a bag over the pot and take it to a warm and light windowsill. The first sprouts should appear in 10-15 days.
