In August, it is time to prepare the soil for planting the winter garlic crop.
Since the summer resident has a very extensive amount of work to do, he can start right now.
An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh advises paying attention to three important points.
What do they consist of?
The right choice of site
Garlic should not be planted in the same place for years, as the quality of the product will rapidly decline. It is best to choose a site that receives good sunlight.
Make sure you don't have any waterlogging issues, otherwise your garlic crop could simply die.
Garlic grows well after sweet peppers and cabbage. You can consider the option of tomatoes with cucumbers. A good option can be a bed after zucchini or eggplants.
Processing
First of all, it is important to treat the soil with any specialized preparation that is designed to eliminate pathogenic microorganisms.
You can use copper sulfate, which is common for this purpose. Take no more than forty grams of the preparation per bucket of water.
A bucket is enough to process ten square meters.
Nutrients
Any crops make the soil poorer, so you can't do without enriching the bed. If you want to make a real "vitamin bomb", then the following mixture is prepared for one square meter.
We combine about 25 grams of potassium salt with 30 grams of superphosphate. Industrial compositions are mixed with five kilograms of humus.
