Perhaps the main sign that indicates that gooseberries are ripe is the softness of their fruits.

According to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , summer residents usually go to pick gooseberries in July.

However, in addition to the month, it also matters what time of day you decide to “pluck” the bushes.

Few people know, but picking gooseberries in the morning hours is not recommended.

The ban is due to a serious reason: in the morning the plants are still covered with dew, which is why the berries will naturally be wet. This means that such gooseberries will not store as well as dry ones.

Instead, move your gardening to daytime hours.

This way, you will be able to keep the harvested fruits fresh longer, while significantly reducing the risk of their early rotting.

As for the “dress code”, the situation is even more obvious: since gooseberry bushes are famous for their sharp thorns, they can prick or scratch painfully.

For this reason, you should make sure you have protective gloves and a long-sleeved shirt.
