Slowly Ripening Tomatoes: A Trick to Speed Up the Natural Process

As experienced gardeners note, first you need to remove the lower leaves, which take away nutrition.

If the lower tomato brushes remain green by the end of July, they should be pinched. It is better to do this a month before harvesting.

In this case, you can get excellent fruits by the end of August.

Summer residents also recommend feeding plants with ash to speed up the ripening process.

The solution is prepared very simply from 10 liters of clean water and a liter of fertilizer. The product should be infused for several hours before use.

You can use an iodine-based solution (30 drops of a pharmaceutical product per 10 liters of water).

This remedy will speed up ripening and will also serve as a preventative measure against late blight.

If there is no time for natural ripening, you can cut the branches and leave the fruits to ripen in greenhouses or on windowsills. Such vegetables will not have a bright taste, but are great for canning or making any snacks.
