Sweetness and shelf life are the two main “requirements” for beets.
To ensure that the root crops are sweet and can be stored for a long time by the time of harvest, the garden crop must be properly fed.
July is exactly the period when the plant can be provided with all the conditions for full development.
If you add suitable fertilizer to the soil in the beet bed during the second summer month, the harvest will be abundant and of high quality.
What fertilizer are we talking about?
In midsummer, beets do not particularly need nitrogen. Moreover, an abundance of this microelement can negatively affect the condition of the plant.
Therefore, in July, garden crops should not be fertilized with manure and compost.
But the root crop needs potassium and phosphorus components. Especially during the second month of summer.
The ideal option is to add ash. It contains enough potassium and phosphorus. But the nitrogen component in unburned wood residues is practically absent.
An infusion should be prepared on the basis of ash. The proportion is simple: for 10 liters of clean liquid - one glass of bulk product.
The result will be water, which should be used to feed the garden crop.
