Onions are not a plant that requires constant monitoring. They grow without requiring attention, but sometimes problems occur.
And in order to grow a good harvest and large heads of onions, you need to do some manipulations in the beds in June.
1. Watering
Onion feathers should not start to dry out prematurely, so in June the beds are necessarily watered. The more nutrients accumulate in the feathers, the more will be taken by the maturing heads.
2. Weeds
It is necessary to weed the beds and loosen the soil. This is the main reason why the bulbs grow small. Loosening is carried out after watering.
3. Fertilizer
Summer residents recommend using chicken manure infusion for this purpose. 100 ml of concentrate is added to 10 liters of water. 1 teaspoon of superphosphate and the same amount of potassium fertilizer are added here. Consumption is 1 liter of mixture per linear meter.
You can simply sprinkle the spaces between the rows with wood ash after watering.
4. Seeds
You also need to remove the seed pods. It is worth knowing that onions shoot up due to drought or stagnant moisture, as well as when planted in cold soil. In this case, the shoot is broken off by ⅓.
