Repotting is one of the necessary procedures if you want your orchid to develop harmoniously and delight you with its flowering.

An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke in detail about the rules for carrying out this "operation".

First, you will have to take the plant out of the pot and transfer it to a basin.

Now clean the rhizome from the remains of the substrate and wash it. This can be done by placing the flower in a container filled with warm water for 15-20 minutes.

Now you need to get rid of the rotten roots. This should be done using only disinfected tools.

How to recognize healthy roots and rotten ones? Just press on them. Healthy roots will be dense and firm to the touch, while rotten ones often leak water when pressed.

Treat the cut areas with crushed activated carbon.

After pruning, place the plant in a solution of the drug "Maxim" (can be replaced with Fundazol).

All that remains is to get rid of the old (yellow) leaves. The same should be done with the yellowed flower stalks, cutting them to a level of 1 cm from the base of the stem.

Don't forget to disinfect the stems - this time you'll need pharmaiod.

Leave the orchid overnight to dry, and in the morning, plant it in a new pot.
