Without water, carrots simply won't grow. Roots won't form, meaning there'll be nothing to harvest.
That is why garden crops need watering. And regular and abundant watering.
But not always. There is a fortnight during the entire summer cottage season when the procedure can harm the plant.
During these 15 days, you do not need to water the carrots. Otherwise, the yield will be low.
When carrots don't need watering
After the first sprouts have broken through the soil, there is no need to replenish the moisture deficit in the soil cover of the carrot bed.
This “dry” period should not last very long: about half a month.
You can water the plant only if it is very hot and there is no precipitation.
After 15 days, abundant watering of carrots should be resumed.
If everything is done correctly, the root system of the garden crop will receive proper development and will go to a sufficient depth.
And all this contributes to the active growth of the plant and its receipt of a sufficient amount of nutrients.
