Not all summer residents who plant strawberries on their plots manage to wait for a harvest of ripe and sweet berries.
As the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh explained, the reason for this could be a dangerous pest – the raspberry-strawberry weevil.
This parasite goes “hunting” during the period of mass bud emergence on garden strawberries and raspberries.
At the same time, the weevil begins to actively reproduce - one female can lay hundreds of eggs. The hatched larvae feed on the juice of strawberry flower stalks.
Here is the answer to the question of whether it will be possible to get a harvest from a strawberry plantation that was attacked by a weevil.
Many gardeners in such a situation resort to the help of folk remedies - iodine, red pepper tincture, etc.
However, based on experience, such methods of combating weevils are ineffective.
Therefore, if you do not want to lose a significant part of your strawberry harvest, use preparations specially created to combat pests, such as Biokil, Aktara, Alatar, etc.
