Vacation at the dacha can be ruined by blood-sucking insects. And if the midges ever run out, the mosquitoes will bother you all summer long.

Here are some plants that can help you get rid of this problem. They can be planted under a window or near a gazebo.

Expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh shared advice on this topic.

To combat mosquitoes, it is best to plant plants that emit essential oils and thus repel insects. Here are just a few of them.

1. Marsh Labrador Tea

The aroma of this plant is unique. The essential oil of wild rosemary repels mosquitoes and other insects. But the trouble is that if you constantly breathe in its aroma, your head may start to hurt or spin.

2. Lavender

This plant also produces essential oil, which mosquitoes don't like. However, unlike wild rosemary, it does not cause any harm to humans, has a calming effect, and does not require special care. The only thing is that it needs a sunny place for planting.

3. Garlic

The pungent smell of garlic is not liked by many garden pests, including blood-sucking insects. You can plant it in a garden bed, in a flowerbed, or even in a flowerpot on a windowsill.

4. Rosemary

A useful plant, the smell of which (very pleasant for humans) can be used to protect against insects.

5. Thyme

A plant with a strong and persistent aroma that repels mosquitoes. It can also be used in cooking.
