If you want your neighbors to sigh in envy when they see your raspberry harvest, you'll have to work hard throughout the season, and May is no exception.
Let us remind you: in early spring, it is worth getting rid of dry and broken branches, shortening the tops of the main stems and carrying out treatment aimed at preventing the appearance of diseases and pests.
In addition, it is necessary to apply spring fertilizer and mulch the raspberry patch with compost.
In May, it is time to cut out the shoots, which are essentially weeds, since they take away nutrition from the raspberries and thicken the plantings.
To do this, arm yourself with a shovel and cut off unnecessary shoots at a depth of 3-5 cm. Do not throw away the “cuttings” - instead, send them to the compost or use them in the preparation of “fermentation”.
In addition, the last month of spring should be used to treat raspberry bushes against insect pests using biological preparations.
Before flowering, the bushes should be treated with bitoxibacillin, and after flowering, with phytoverm.
In addition, after flowering, also use Thiovit Jet – it will help you protect raspberries from diseases.
And don't forget about fertilization. Professionals believe that it is difficult to overfeed raspberries, so they use mulching with humus, complex spring fertilization (we already talked about this above), and in May they water the raspberry patch with herbal infusion.
To prepare it, you need to pour water over the grass and leave it for 10-15 days, stirring daily. Dilute the resulting concentrate with water in a ratio of 1 to 10 and add humate +7 iodine.
