Typically, cucumbers stop bearing fruit at the very beginning of autumn or even in the last weeks of summer.

In other words, the entire fruiting process lasts literally a couple of months.

However, the owner of a country plot is able to ensure that the fruit can be harvested throughout September and even in October.

There are at least three tricks that allow you to make the fruiting of a garden crop much longer.

Timely harvesting of fruits

The first fruits should be picked from cucumber bushes before the vegetables become overgrown.

If you are late, the cucumbers will not be as tasty. In addition, they will have time to consume a lot of nutrients.

As a result, the soil will become poorer: you can’t count on the appearance of new fruits of good quality.

Leaf removal

The garden crop must be cleared of excess leaf blades in a timely manner.

First of all, you should remove those leaves that have turned yellow and wilted.

In addition, the plates that are located below the forming fruits are also unnecessary for the plant.

A simple procedure will help “rejuvenate” cucumber bushes and prolong fruiting.

Using mulch

The soil on which cucumber bushes grow should be covered with a layer of mulch.

The fact is that the gardener will prolong the fruiting of the plant during the period when frosts begin to become an increasingly frequent occurrence.

Mulching is a guarantee that the quality of the soil will improve and the roots of the garden crop will be protected from adverse weather conditions.
